Masterpieces

2009-2010 has been an exceptional year for literary and artistic expression in the world of adoption reform, search and reunion.  Adoptees have expressed themselves on new creative levels with national impact in books, music, film and poetry. 

Transracial adoptee Barb Lee showed her powerful documentary, Adopted at the 2009 AAC  National Conference. Click here for a link to this site, which also includes information about the book Adopted: The New American Family .   This is guaranteed to shift the conversation about international and transracial adoption in significant ways.  

Zara Phillips, a native of England who now lives in New Jersey, has co-written a song with Darrell McDaniels ("DMC" of the rap group Run DMC) entitled "I'm Legit." It has been called the new adoptee rights anthem, and is also avalable on Itunes. The video, released in March 2010,  is available on YouTube.  Zara has also produced a documentary entitled Roots Unknown, which documents candid discussions with adult adoptees about their lives, their relationships, and their world views.

Jean Strauss, filmmaker and NY Times best selling author, was honored to have her new documentary featured at the Rocky Mountain Women's Film Festival.  The film, entitled For the Life of Me, follows the story of Dave, a 52 year old adoptee who receives his original birth certificate and goes in search of his first mother.

Singer/songwriter Mary Gauthier released her latest album, The Foundling.  From her website bio:  "On her newest album, The Foundling, her first concept album, Mary opens the door on the defining circumstance of her life, the emotional journey and aftermath of finding the mother who surrendered her in New Orleans after her birth in March 1962 (the month Bob Dylan released his first album, to put a perspective on it).

Poet Penny Callan Partridge released her latest collection, The PeopleThey Brought Me: Poems in the Adoption Commmunity.  She approaches her craft with wit, wisdom and compassion, allowing the reader to participate or observe from a distance. www.pennycallanpartridge.com

Photographer and artist Patrick McMahon has created a line of calendars, greeting cards and blank note cards which express thoughts and feelings specific to the adoption triad. For more details and information about how to order, see his website, Touched by Adoption.

AIS-CTC Registry

You can now join the free online AIS/CTC reunion registry directly by logging in and providing information about yourself and the person(s) you are seeking. We will never sell your information to anyone. We will only disclose your information to the person(s) you are looking for. Please note that any fields labeled "visible on your profile" are visible only to the site administrator. In order to help us minimize SPAM and computer generated messages, registration involves these steps:

1) Create a login account by providing basic information and establishing your password.You will receive an electronic response from AIS/CTC.
2) Click on the link we send from the email address you provide in order to confirm your registration. 
3) Once you confirm your registration, the registry administrator will approve and enable your account, usually within 24-48 hours. You will receive a second email from AIS/CTC informing you that your account is now active. 
4) From the AIS/CTC homepage, use your login name and password and click on the "Login" button.  You will still be on the home page, but if you scroll back down the page, you will notice a greeting with your username. Click on "My Profile" to see what you've already entered, or click on "Edit My Profile" to make changes or add more detailed information about yourself and the person(s) for whom you are searching.
